Therapy Grounded in Authenticity and Human Connection

I am a person navigating this world, just like you. My approach to therapy is unique in that way. I am not a blank slate, and I don't aim to be one. You will receive my true, genuine self during our sessions. I find that my own, very human experiences and emotions can provide just as much support, if not more, as my education and training.

About

Professional Experience, Genuine Insight

I'm Marissa, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and founder of MRH Therapy. I have a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Montclair State University and a collective 7 years of experience working with adults, adolescents, couples, and families in both the school and clinical settings. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, interpersonal challenges, and life transitions. I combine person-centered therapy with dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to serve my clients. Person-centered therapy is a collaborative, non-judgmental approach to counseling. DBT is a more structured approach that helps clients manage intense emotions by teaching a variety of core skills for acceptance and change. I believe that we all have the ability to create long-lasting change in our lives, regardless of our circumstances. Our emotions often cloud our ability to think rationally and move forward in a positive direction. I aim to provide an objective, authentic perspective that helps you see your world a little bit clearer and face your challenges without fear.
